What is CEPES Andalucía?

The Confederation of Social Economy Entities in Andalusia (CEPES) is a cross-sector business organisation, created in 1993, uniting organisations (federations, associations, foundations) of Social Economy companies and independent business people from the Autonomous Community of Andalusia.

The Social Economy sector consists, principally, of Cooperative Companies, Employee-owned Companies and Independent business people, as well as other legal formulas, such as Mutual Societies, Social Insertion Companies or Training Centres. The sector aims to respond to certain consensus goals in our society, including, among others:

  • The promotion of entrepreneurial and business skills, offering business formulas appropriate for the development of entrepreneurial spirit and business initiative.

  • The issue of employment, generating more stable and better quality job positions and with a higher growth than the traditional financial system, contributing to establish the population in geographic areas where the conventional economy is absent or in crisis.

  • Social cohesion and insertion, via associative or cooperative work, promoting the social and labour integration of people and groups at risk of social exclusion.

The fundamental function of CEPES Andalucía is to represent this business group, acting as its social agent and defending its interests, as well as extending said business models to create employment and achieve a fairer society with a greater distribution of the wealth.

The Confederation is composed of up to fifteen entities, comprising cooperatives, employee-owned companies, independent business people, mutual societies, insertion companies and training centres. The Social Economy sector in Andalusia has created more than 13,000 companies and generated more than 90,000 direct jobs and over 350,000 people have opted for self-employment. This currently represents 13 per cent of Andalusia’s Gross Internal Product.

CEPES Andalucía, as the mouthpiece for the entire Andalusian Social Economy, will continue working towards the progress of this economic reality, firmly committing itself to the development of our region.
