In the Autumn of 2002, the Confederation of Social Economy Entities in Andalusia (CEPES-A) and the Andalusian Federation of Associated Work Cooperative Companies (FAECTA) unanimously certified the constitution of the Foundation of the Andalusian Social Economy School (FEAES) as an instrument to dynamise the lines of training, investigation and development that were promoted by these organisations in the scope of the Social Economy of Andalusia. At the same time, on 8 October 2002, the First Andalusian Agreement for the Social Economy was signed between the Public Administration, CEPES-A and the Trade Unions.
Following the lines set out in Chapter III.a. of this Agreement, the following was agreed: “The launch of the permanent Social Economy Training Centre. Said Centre, as well as managing and coordinating the Social Economy training programmes, is defined as a meeting place for circulating information about the enterprise culture between the regions of Maghreb and the Latin American countries”. This agreement is expressed through the Foundation of the Andalusian Social Economy School. The main purpose of its constitution was based on the need to create a mediating agent to help promote the Social Economy of Andalusia in both the local sphere as well as the national and international spheres.
Currently, the primary purpose of the Foundation of the Andalusian Social Economy School is to promote and communicate the Andalusian Social Economy model. As an institution, the foundation is a mechanism that favours the exchange and cooperation between the Social Economy entities and companies of Andalusia as well as among the sector’s corresponding agents in the different communities in Spain and abroad.

The physical space used by the Foundation of the Andalusian Social Economy School for the execution and development of its own activities as well as the activities developed by the different Social Economy organisations is the old Church and Convent of La Merced in the municipality of Osuna.
