CEPES-A in society

The Social Economy has made relentless progress in Andalusia, strengthening the economic and social welfare of the Community of Andalusia, as the latest statistics released about this sector in the last financial year show. Other facts confirm this progress, such as the gradual inclusion of the Social Economy in the Community’s consultancy and decision-making organs. Our sector has gone from playing a discreet role in Andalusian public life to being represented with its own voice in several institutions, actively contributing to the implementation of self-employment policies and defending and promoting the inherent values of the Social Economy.

These institutions include the following, among others: the Economic and Social Council of Andalusia and other local ESCs, the Social Councils of the Public Universities, the Andalusian Employment Service, Savings Bank Associations and local and provincial development organisations.

Probably one of the most significant acknowledgements of the Confederation’s role as a representative Social Agent and of the sector’s socioeconomic boom, was the signing of the Second Andalusian Agreement for the Social Economy, on 23 October 2006, between the Government of the Autonomous Government of Andalusia, CEPES-A and the UGT-A and CCOO-A trade unions. This was a pioneering event in Spain, consolidating the Andalusian government’s support for a sector that plays a particularly dynamic role in the community. The document sets out the strategic lines for the development and promotion of Social Economy companies in the Community of Andalusia.

For this reason, CEPES Andalucía carries out a lot of work each year with the different public and private institutions that have a more or less direct relationship with the Social Economy sector, to establish collaboration agreements and design action frameworks that promote our sector’s growth within the community, as well as undertaking new projects and obtaining new levels of representation.
